Parking in Rydal

Please remember this is a working village

The village welcomes visitors, and there is a car park on the hill by Cote How. There are also two large car parks at White Moss at the north end of the lake towards Grasmere, which are often under used.There is some parking on the hill by the churchyard, which is a private road and not maintained by the council. Beyond Rydal Hall's gate parking is obstructive to access for farm traffic, residents utilities, essential deliveries and emergency services, all of which have been obstructed in recent months by thoughtless and inconsiderate parking.

Such problems have been multiplied in recent months by a cracked drain which has narrowed the upper part of the hill, and the winter ice and snow in which parts of the hill being left uncleared have led to much difficulty.

Please use the car parks or the spaces by the churchyard, and park with care and consideration.
